Weekend love.

Hi to all. What a great weekend in the Benson household. I have to remind myself how lucky I am to get weekends off now. Such a great change. This weekend was filled with lots of to dos and relaxation.

A list of things from our weekend:
I was so excited to finally get to see my husband play softball....took Stella to get her haircut...Matt and I spent a day to ourselves having breakfast at one of our favorite places :)....went shopping for some odds and ends....Matt got some new work clothes (exciting, you know your getting old when you enjoy getting new work clothes)....I got a new pair of roller blades....went and looked at our first open house (very nice but WAY over priced)....did some yard work....gave the garage a good clean out....sewed (not enough as I would have liked to; instead I enjoyed the beautiful weather we had)....planned out our 4th of July meals and started preparing for it....rearranged our living room....broke in my new roller blades....had delicious chicken and pineapple kabobs with corn on the cob....finished off the weekend relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine.

Hey good lookin' :)

Another picture of Matt batting, the delicious bagels we love, a sneak peek of the quilt I am making (ignore the mess on the nightstand), and our first tomatoes. I am so proud...ha :)

So peaceful. Our view from our deck while we drink our wine.

Didn't get as much as I had planned done for the weekend but like I said I was thoroughly enjoying the nice weather. Also a very happy fathers day to all the dads especially mine! I love you so much and I will always be your little girl. Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week and hopefully next time I will have my quilt top done!!! Hopefully that is :)

I've been away!

Did you miss me?!?!...ha

Ok so yes it has been forever since I posted but I have had some great, fun and exciting things going on. First off I went to Salt Lake City, UT for training for my wonderful job that I love so much! It was so great. I learned so much but it was such a great opportunity to meet new people, hang out, tour the town, visit Temple Square, view magnificent sights, go on scavenger hunts, be in a talent show, go for morning hikes through the mountains, ate ALOT, stayed in the dorms and be on the beautiful campus of University of Utah. Oh and also walked EVERYWHERE for miles upon miles. It was great. I have some awesome pictures of flowers that I took to show you. I just think they are amazing. Sorry to you if you dont like flowers because you should!  :)

Botanical Garden on the University of Utah. Serenity.

One of the buildings from the main campus at University of Utah. I love all the detail and architecture. It was everywhere you looked and went. Bravo to all who designed.

So since I have been home its kinda been non stop going. I have been spending a great deal of time with Matt and Stella whom I missed both very much. Summer has somewhat decided to arrive. I can't believe we are at the end of June and it seems like its April/May out there. Depressing. But we have been making the best of the nice days by going on walks and we went golfing this week too. First time in like 3 years. The most exciting news for me is that water aerobics have now started up again...I just love love love it. I could be a fish..seriously. Anytime I can be in the water I am one happy girl.

Also I started a quilt for a special someone in my life. Cant tell yet because it would ruin the surprise. It is coming around fairly fast and its an easier pattern. I am really hoping to get the top quilted by the end of this weekend and then I will post some pics of it. Its very fun and funky.

So its finally Friday and here is whats on my to do list for the weekend:

~watch Matt play softball-if its not rained out :(
~hang out with an old high school friend
~go to some of the local quilt shops and hopefully buy fabric for the back of my quilt
~get Stellas hair cut
~run some errands while we wait for Stella
~coffee/geek date with the hubs
~start and finish an apron
~finish my quilt top
~try and go for a few walks
~get the dust off my yoga mat ;)
~finish reading my book

Yes its a long lofty list but I am going to try and do it! I love challenges.

Oh also make sure to remember your dads on Sunday!!! Mine is one of the most important people in my life!!

And one last thing here is a picture of me and the man I am totally in love with :)

Have a happy weekend!

Pure Madness.

Well this week has been complete craziness. After an amazingly relaxing Memorial Day weekend we come back and we get news that there is a flood emergency. Leaving thousands to evacuate their homes and many unknowns. Luckily we weren't in the flood zone but I know many that were personally affected.

Matt and I ended up having our first sandbagging experience together. Many people came together and helped sandbag. We met so many great people. I must say it is very hard work. Shoveling, tying and throwing the bags. I really shouldn't complain but my hands hurt so bad today. We had a semi-truck at one time come with a flat bed trailer and hauled hundreds away and later we found out that that load was enough to help save an area. That definatley lights a fire in your belly. I am so happy and proud of us for taking part in sandbagging. Anyone that can should help sandbag. It not only helps so many people but it really makes you proud.  Plus there was news that it looks like Minot should be ok which is a huge relief.

On a little happier note. I haven't had the chance to tell you about the great weekend we had. Spending time with my family is the most important thing to me and love every chance I can get. We ended up going back to my home town for some relaxation. We had lots of laughs, celebrated a birthday and went out to eat for it, sang Lady Gaga as we drove down the highway, went for ice cream runs, helped my mom with some of her plants, spent time with some friends and delivered aprons (which if you haven't already seen they are in my last post) :)

Our family going out to eat for Darren's birthday!!

Happy Birthday Darren!!!

Oh a few other exciting things is I got a pattern in the mail for a quilt I will be starting as soon as I get back from my trip for a special someone. Ya, I know you might be thinking whats so great about that but to me its the best thing...haha. Also I am getting ready to leave very soon for a trip to Salt Lake City. I am so excited to go. I love to travel and that is one area I have not been too. I can't wait to post pictures and share with you.

One last picture for you. Its me and my husband. He is so wonderful :)

And so there you have it my week wrapped up. It's days like these that I am so glad and blessed I am from North Dakota.
